WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CANOE RESTORATION?

Every restoration project is different, and the scope of work depends upon the condition of the canoe and the client's desires and budget.  We start each project with a thorough assessment of a boat's condition and provide an estimate for the total cost of restoration before beginning work.

A typical restoration project takes place over the fall and winter months so that your boat is ready to get out on the water the following year.

Below is a general outline of the canoe restoration process.

COST AND TIMELINE

The cost of a canoe restoration varies quite a bit and depends on the model and condition of your boat.  A typical canoe restoration project, as described above, usually falls in the range of $3500-6000.  We can also do recanvassing or minor repairs for boats that do not need a full restoration.

Once your boat arrives at the shop, a thorough assessment is done and we will provide a quote before starting work.  A ballpark estimate can be provided ahead of time if you send us detailed photos and information about your canoe.

Each restoration takes several months to complete.  Due to the seasonal nature of paddling, the boat shop work also follows a seasonal rhythm.  Each fall we take in a new batch of restoration projects to be completed over the winter and then picked up the following year.

Please note: The shop is unable to accept new projects at this time.
